South Africa Stun India With Record Chase in Raipur : Markram Century Guide to Level the Series 1-1

The second One-Day International between India and South Africa at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur turned into a high-scoring thriller. South Africa completed a remarkable chase to win by four wickets and level the three-match series 1-1 and also third highest run chases in ODI cricket. Despite Virat Kohli and Ruturaj Gaikwad Century, Aiden Markram  superb hundred and the strong support from the Matthew Breetzkee and Dewald Brevis in middle order proved to be the difference.

South Africa won the toss and Opted to bowl first, India start was shaky, losing the aggressive Rohit Sharma 14 and the cautious Yashasvi Jaiswal 22 with only 62 runs on the board.

Virat Kohli and Ruturaj Gaikwad. They not only rebuilt the innings but dominated the attack with rotating the strike and punishing losse deliveries,a brilliant partnership of 195 runs for the third wicket broke a 15-year-old record for India against South Africa, previously held by Sachin Tendulkar and Dinesh Karthik.

Ruturaj Gaikwad was the more aggressive of the two, finding boundaries with ease. He mixed timing with clean hitting and soon reached his maiden ODI century. It took him just 77 balls, showing he was in complete control. He eventually scored a superb 105 runs off just 83 balls, including 12 fours and 2 sixes. His innings gave India the momentum they needed after the early setbacks.Virat Kohli continued his sublime form from the first ODI, bringing up his 53rd ODI century (second consecutive in the series), finishing with 102 runs from 93 balls, featuring 7 fours and 2 sixes. His innings was absolutely masterclass.

The foundation laid by the Virat Kohli and Ruturaj Gaikwad was capitalised on by skipper KL Rahul, who provided the late-innings fireworks. Rahul blasted a blistering, unbeaten 66 off just 43 balls, ably supported by Ravindra Jadeja  supportive innings 24 runs off 27 deliveries.

India to a massive total of 358/5 in their 50 overs.

Marco Jansen was stand out bowler for South Africa gets 2/63 in 10 overs while Nandre Burger and Lungi Ngidi bagged 1 wicket each.

Chasing 359 . South Africa got off to a shaky start when Arshdeep Singh removed Quinton de Kock  on 8, gave perfect Start for India.

The innings was built around the supreme effort of  Aiden Markram. He took control of the chase, displaying exceptional temperament and stroke play, and converted a promising start into a brilliant 110 off 98 balls , smashed 10 Fours, 4 Sixes) with his fourth ODI hundred. Markram formed the backbone of the chase, first with a steady 101 runs partnership alongside Temba Bavuma  who played supportive innings 46 runs off 48 deliveries and then in a crucial  stand with Matthew Breetzke.

Matthew Breetzke and Dewald Brevis  put another solid 92 runs partnership and  shifted the momentum  in South Africa favour. Dewald Brevis played blistering knock of 54 runs off 34 balls , featuring 1 four and 5 towering sixes. While Breetzkee played a composed innings of 68 runs off 64 deliveries ,

Meanwhile,Tony de Zorzi retired hurt on 17 and pressure building,Corbin Bosch stepped up. His calmness under pressure was outstanding. He played smart shots, picked the gaps, and never looked rushed. Bosch unbeaten 29 from 15 balls sealed the match for South Africa. and crucial support from Keshav Maharaj who unbeaten on 10.

South Africa chase down target in 362/6 in 49.2 overs , and level the series.

For India Arshdeep Singh was picked up the bowler took 2/54 in 10 overs while Prasidh Krishna was also gets 2 wickets and one for Harshit Rana and kuldeep yadav.
