South Africa produced a clinical all round performance on day 4 of the second test in Rawalpindi to outclass pakistan by 8 wickets and level the two matches series 1-1 . Dominated by brilliant spin bowling from Simon Harmer and Keshav Maharaj and backed by solid batting from Aiden Markram and Rayn Rickelton,the proteas wrapped up the contest before lunch, completing a well deserved victory.
After taking 71 run lead in the first innings South Africa entered day 4 in complete control. pakistan resumed their innings at 94/4 , hoping the lead beyond 150 to make things challenging, however their resistance fell apart quickly under rentless spin pressure, Simon Harmer was the star ripping through pakistan batting order he finished 6/50 while keshav Maharaj chipped with 2 wickets and Rabada got 1 .
For Pakistan Babar Azam fought hard, scoring 50 off 87 balls with seven boundaries. While Mohammad Rizwan added 18 runs and down the order Salman Ali Agha gave some resistance but caught on 28 , pakistan collapsed proved costly,as they could only set a target of 68 runs for south africa to chase.
In first innings, Pakistan had posted 333 in their first innings, thanks to half century from Abdullah Shafique (57), Shan Masood (87) and Saud shakeel (66) , but South Africa response was even stronger, they amassed 404 , powered by a resilient lower order partnership between Senuran muthusamy (89*) and Kagiso Rabada (71) , the duo added 98 runs for the tenth wicket, frustrating Pakistan bowlers and turning the game firmly in the proteas favour.
When South Africa came out the chase 68, Aiden Markram looked in Sublime touch smashing 42 off 45 balls with eight crisp boundaries. His stroke play neutralized any hopes had of an early breakthrough. Ryan Rickelton stayed unbeaten on 25 , guiding South Africa by 8 wickets win and draw the series 1-1.
