NPL, Mark Watt Blistering Century Crush Lumbini Lions

The roar of the Lumbini Lions was completely drowned out by the sensational performance of Karnali Yaks star opener, Mark Watt, who scored a brilliant  first century of tournament , completely outclass Lumbini Lions by 9 wickets,at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. Lumbini Lions were put in to bat first after Yaks captain Sompal Kami won the toss and chose to field. The  Lumbini Lions innings started with promise as their top-order batsmen got small starts, but none of them could convert those starts into big scores. The early dismissal of   D’Arcy Short(19) and Sundeep Jora(1) was a major setback, as he is usually expected to provide strong momentum.

The player who held the innings together was the Lions captain Rohit Paudel. He played a steady and responsible knock of 49 runs, guiding the middle order and keeping the scoreboard moving. His innings was crucial, but once he fell just one run short of a half-century, the pressure returned on the batting unit.

At the lower order JJ Smit 23 off 14 balls and Ruben Trumplemann 29 off 14 deliveries put Karnali Yaks 153/8 in 20 overs.

Nandan yadav chipped with 2 wickets and sompal kami, Mark Watt, Gulshan Jha Bipin Sharma and Yuvraj Khatri gets one wicket each.

The target of 157 was quickly made to look minuscule by the devastating onslaught launched by Karnali Yaks opener Mark Watt. Watt kept finding the gaps, clearing the ropes, and increasing the scoring rate at will. His innings was filled with aggressive strokeplay, precise timing, and fearless intent,his partner William Bosisto played  29* runs off 20 deliveries,the perfect supporting role . He stayed calm, rotated the strike, and allowed Watt to keep attacking. Together, they ensured that the run chase stayed far ahead of the required rate.

He reached his century in outstanding fashion, leaving the crowd in awe. This knock will certainly be remembered as one of the finest in league history. Played unbeaten 114* run off 44 deliveries, featuring 6 fours and 12 towering sixes.

The Yaks crossed the target in just 12.2 overs, finishing at 161/1.
