England vs Australia 2nd Ashes Test Day 4 Highlights : Australia Seal Empathic Win to Go 2-0 Up in The Ashes

The  Day 4 of second Ashes Test England vs Australia at Gabba in Brisbane, Australia produced Clinical 8 wickets victory over England and taking 2-0 lead in five matches series.

England began Day 4 in deep trouble at 134/6, still 43 runs behind Australia  massive first-innings total of 511.  Ben Stokes and Will Jacks, both unbeaten overnight.Stokes, resuming on 4*, focused on survival, leaving deliveries with good judgment and defending solidly. Jacks on 4* also showed great discipline, especially against Mitchell Starc and Scott Boland, who had ripped through England the previous day. Together, they erased the deficit and slowly began to build a small lead.

The partnership grew to 65 valuable runs, frustrating the Australian bowling attack and . By the tea break, England had reached 193/6, with a 16-run lead without losing any wickets.

The momentum completely changed after launch ,Will Jacks, after scoring a valuable 41 from 92 balls, edged the ball towards the slips. Steve Smith,  leapt full stretch to his left and took a stunning one-handed catch , first wicket of the day, Stokes, after battling hard for 50 runs, was the second-last wicket to fall. Once he departed, England folded rapidly and were all out for 241. This gave Australia a target of just 65 runs to win the match.

Michael Neser was stand out bowler for Australia took 5/42 in 16.2 overs while Mitchell Starc and Scott Boland got 2 wickets each and 1 wicket for Brendan Doggett.

Chasing 65 runs under lights with the pink ball could have been slightly tricky, and England’s fast bowlers tried to make something happen. Jofra Archer and Gus Atkinson bowled with pace and aggression.

Travis Head was the first to go, bowled b  by Gus Atkinson on 22  , Not long after, Marnus Labuschagne was also dismissed by Atkinson on 3  Australia were at 41/2.

Jake Weatherald and Steven Smith came together and made sure there were no further problems, started attacking the bowlers. He hit boundaries with ease and played in his natural style.

 

With just a few runs left, Smith finished the match in dramatic fashion by smashing a huge six over deep square leg off Atkinson. The ball flew into the crowd, and Smith celebrated passionately. He remained unbeaten on 23 from just 9 balls, while Weatherald stayed not out on 17.

Australia reached 69/2 in only 10 overs, securing a comfortable eight-wicket victory take 2-0 lead in five matches series.

Gus Atkinson was only bowler who took 2 wickets for England.
