Bangladesh wrapped up a commanding victory on Day 5 of the second Test against Ireland at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, securing a 2–0 series sweep. The hosts displayed complete control throughout the match, with their spinners dismantling the Irish batting lineup.
Ireland entered Day 5 in a dire position. Chasing a mammoth target of 509, they started the morning at 176 for 6, still needing 333 runs with only four wickets left. Their only path to survival was to bat out an entire day against a relentless spin attack—something extremely difficult on a turning Dhaka pitch.
Overnight batters Curtis Campher (34*) and Andy McBrine (11*) carried Ireland’s hopes, but Bangladesh struck almost immediately. In just the second over of the morning, off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz trapped McBrine lbw for 15. That wicket opened the door for Bangladesh, who sensed an early finish.
The Irish tail was exposed far sooner than they would have liked, and Bangladesh did not waste time tightening their grip. The pitch offered sharp turn and bounce, and the home side’s spinners were disciplined and accurate from ball one.
Curtis Campher tried hard to hold the innings together, showing courage and patience, with Jordan Neill put 48 runs partnership after dismissed Andy Mcbrine (21), Then with Gavin Hoey(37) add 54 runs partnership for the 9th wicket but it’s not enough and Hasan Murad took Final wicket, Ireland Bowled out on 291/10 , Curtis Campher steady unbeaten on 71.
Hasan Murad 4/44 and Taijul Islam 4/104 picked up wickets for Bangladesh while One wicket for Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Khaled Ahmed.
