Bangladesh won the toss and Opted to bat first . Openers Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Shadman Islam gave steady Start, adding 52 runs together for the first wicket.Shadman looked good for his 35 but was trapped LBW by Andy McBrine, who used the review successfully. McBrine quickly removed Joy for 34 as well, after he mistimed a shot to mid-off.
Just before lunch, Bangladesh lost another big wicket. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto hit a six but was bowled on 8 by McBrine with a sharp-turning ball. Bangladesh went into lunch at 100/3, with McBrine claiming all three wickets.The afternoon session belonged completely to Mominul Haque and Mushfiqur Rahim. The experienced pair batted calmly, and slowly took the game away from Ireland.
They added a valuable 107-run stand for the fourth wicket. Mominul brought up his fifty first and played with great control, giving Mushfiqur the perfect support from the other end.
After tea, Mushfiqur increased his scoring rate and soon reached his 28th Test half-century. The partnership ended when Mominul fell for 63, sweeping a ball straight to the fielder. McBrine picked up his fourth wicket of the innings.
Litton Das then joined Mushfiqur and played positively from the start. Together, they added an unbeaten 90-run partnership, putting Bangladesh firmly on top.
As the final overs approached, all eyes were on Mushfiqur, who moved slowly and carefully towards a hundred. He stayed calm under pressure and finished the day on 99 not out off 187 balls, while Litton Das remained unbeaten on 47.
