Women’s World Cup: Marizanne kapp and Chole Tryon guide South Africa Edge over Bangladesh

In ICC Women’s world Cup 2025 , a gripping encounter between South Africa and Bangladesh at ACA – VDCA Stadium in vishakapatnam South Africa secured dramatic 3 wickets win over Bangladesh. Marizanne kapp 56 and Chole Tryon 62 composed guided to victory.

After winning the toss Bangladesh women opted to bat first, openers Fargana Hoque and Rubya Haider gave them steady start adding 53 for the first wicket , Rubya Haider departed 25 off 52 , while Fargana Hoque managed only 30 after steady Start.

Sharmin Akter held the innings together together with a patient 50 off 76 , playing with excellent placement and timing on the both side of the wicket. Sharmin Akter and skipper Nigar Sultana added 77 runs together. Nigar Sultana departed on 32 .

However Shorna Akter played a quickfire 51 off 35 balls with the help of 3 fours and 3 sixes ,while Sobhana Mostary added only 9 and Rabeya Khan goes without scoring, at lower order Ritu Moni Played cameo 19 off 8 balls which helps Bangladesh post 232/6 in 50 overs.

South Africa bowling Nonkululeko Mlaba took 2/42 in 10 overs while Nadine De Klerk and Chole Tryon gets 1 wicket each.

Chasing 233 , South Africa innings began with shaky notes when Tazmin Brits departed without scoring while Laura Wolvaardt managed 31 , and  Anneke Bosch 28 valuable runs.

After 78/5 , the experienced duo Marizanne kapp and Chole Tryon took charge, building a much needed  85 runs partnership mixing with patience with calculated aggression. Kapp 56 off 71 balls meanwhile Tryon with her quick 62 off 69 balls with the help of 6 fours and 1 six keeping scoreboard moving .

However Bangladesh kept the  pressure on through Nahida Akter smart Left arm spin,her crucial breakthrough came when kaap lofted on straight to long off tilting the balance slightly in Bangladesh favour. Soon after Tryon dismissal 198/7 .

However , Nadine De Klerk to steady chase showing nerves of steel, she compiled and unbeaten 37 off 29 , while Masabata klaas who support her add 10 valuable runs. Guiding her  side home with three balls to spare. South Africa chased down the target 235/7 in 49.3 overs.

Bangladesh fought hard till the end but result not in favour because of some mistakes in field.

Nahida Akter pick of the bowler for Bangladesh 2/44 in 9.3 overs while Rabeya Khan , Fahima Khatun and Ritu Moni took 1 wicket each.
