India vs West Indies, 2nd Test, Day 4 , Match Report

Day 4 of the second Test India vs West Indies at the Arun Jaitely Stadium, Delhi turned out to be a battle of grit and patience. While India edged closer to a series clinching victory, the west indies displayed commendable fight, led by centuries from John Campbell and Shai Hope. By Stumps india were firmly in control, needing just 58 runs to win the match and complete a clean sweep.

 

Resuming the day Still trailing by 97 runs, West Indies began cautiously. John Campbell and Shai Hope batting with disciplined, rotate the strike against spin and pace. The pair added a crucial 177 run stand. Campbell ,who had been dismissed cheaply in the first innings,made amends with a brilliant 115 off 199 balls featuring 12 fours and 3 sixes.

The breakthrough came when Ravindra Jadeja trapped Campbell leg before ending a fine innings and giving India a much needed wicket. After Campbell Hope and Roston chase added 59 run together where hope on 103 dismissed by Mohammad Siraj. His innings was masterclass in temperament and shot selection avoided an outright collapse . While Roston chase added 40 valuable runs.

Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, the visitors resilience through Justin Greaves and Jayden Seales ,who stitched together a fighting last wicket partnership , the pair added 79 runs for the 10th wicket, Justin Greaves unbeaten 50 off 85 , while Jayden Seales managed 32 off 67 balls. West Indies all out on 390 in 118.5 overs.

For India jasprit Bumrah 3/44 and Kuldeep Yadav 3/92 were pick of the bowlers, Mohammad Siraj took 2 wickets while Washington Sundar and Ravindra Jadeja bagged 1 wicket each .

 

India chase began with the early setback when Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed for just 8 by Jomel warrican. The wicket gave the visitors a glimmer of hope but kl Rahul and Sai sudarshan calmly, steered india out of trouble. The duo looked composed rotating strike efficiently and pushing losse deliveries.

At stumps on Day 4, india at 63/1 in 18 overs, with kl Rahul unbeaten 25 and Sai sudarshan steady at 30 not out. India now required just 58 more runs to complete a 2-0 series win heading into the final day.

Day 5 out look 

With 58 runs needed and nine wickets in hand, india are on brink of another dominant home series victory. The pitch offer some turn. India are expected to finish the match within the first session of Day 5 .
