The Sri Lanka cricket Board has officially named it’s 15 member women’s squad for the ICC Women’s world cup 2025, which will be started from 30 September to 2 November in India and Sri Lanka.
Athapaththu to lead the charge
Chamari Athapaththu will lead her side ,she is most experienced player in the squad and continues to be Sri Lanka biggest match winner. Everyone known for her fearless batting and handy spin bowling .

Chamari Athapaththu one of the most explosive batter in women’s cricket, her ability to change games single handedly, coupled with her off spin bowling, makes her backbone of the team . Supporting her Harshita Samarawickrama and Nilakshi De Silva, who provide much needed consistency in the middle order.
A major strength in their spin bowling attack with experienced like Inoka Ranaweera, Sugandhi kumari and Udeshika prabodani, Sri Lanka have a variety of spinners who can expoilt subcontinental conditions. Their ability to control the game in the middle overs could be a key weapon against strong batting line ups.
Another positive is the blend of youth and experience. Players as Imesha Dulani and Dewmi vihanga bring fresh energy athleticism and fearless cricket, complementing the maturity of senior players. This balance makes the squad more versatile and adaptable in women’s world cup 2025.
