A dominant all-round performance from the Chitwan Rhinos Clinical 48 runs victory over unbeaten Biratnagar Kings in Match 12 of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground, Kirtipur. Ranjit Kumar takes first five wickets haul this season and thrash kings batters.
Biratnagar kings won the toss and Opted to bowl bowl first, Chitwan Rhinos innings started with shaky notes when Merchant de Lange dismissed Deepak Bohara on 5 and drew first blood while Dawid Malan looked fluent but managed only 17 runs off 9 balls, Dev khanal and Saud zaib put 42 runs partnership and Dev khanal played knock of 28 runs off 22 balls .
Ravi Bopara took control of the innings and played the standout knock of the match. He mixed patience with power and later accelerated brilliantly. His superb 65 runs from 38 balls, which included three fours and four big sixes, lifted the Rhinos out of pressure. While Saif Zaib played steady knock of 32 runs off 30 balls.
A short but valuable unbeaten cameo from captain Kushal Malla, who scored 20 runs off 14 balls, helped the Rhinos reach a competitive total. By the end of their 20 overs, Chitwan Rhinos put up 174/5 on the board.
Sandeep Lamichhane was stand out bowler for Biratnagar kings took 2/24 in 4 overs while Merchant de Lange also took 2 wickets and 1 wicket for Shubham Ranjane.
Chasing a competitive total of 175, the Biratnagar Kings batting lineup collapsed kept pressure from the Chitwan Rhinos bowlers. Their chase started in the worst possible way as they lost four wickets inside the powerplay. The Rhinos bowlers kept tight lines with discipline keep the Kings on the back foot from the beginning. While at top order Sam Heazlett looked in excellent touch but managed only 22 runs off 11 deliveries.
At one point, the Kings were struggling at 47/7, and the match was almost decided. But their lower order showed some fight. Marchant de Lange played a counter-attacking innings of 39 runs from 22 balls, while Pratis GC smashed 30 from just 12 deliveries Featuring with 2 fours and 3 sixes taking the score past 100 in a quick time.
